Description

I am a HEALTH AND CARE PROFESSIONS COUNCIL (HCPC) and KENYA OCCUPATIONAL THERAPISTS ASSOCIATION(KOTA) registered occupational therapist with a research publication which through i acquired research-related skills. I have gained experiences and skills from my previous and current employment as well as my personal life and education. I therefore strongly believe that these experiences and skills will be put to good use. Over the years, I have gained a greater and thorough understanding of the particularities of how occupational therapy services are carried out in varying areas of specialisation. I have also gained a deeper understanding of salient issues regarding occupational therapy clinical practice. I am aware of legislations and safety regulations regarding myself as an occupational therapist and the client and have demonstrated this in the way I relate with my clients and their caregivers. I have independently and within a team involved in all aspects of the occupational therapy process that includes referral, screening assessment, intervention planning and implementation, discharge and transitioning plan as well as reimbursement/billing. I have independently conducted the occupational therapy evaluation, using clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice in deciding specialized assessments, interpreting evaluation findings, and identifying meaningful outcomes with a client-centered approach perspective. I have used my negotiation and collaborating skills to achieve the therapeutic objectives of setting a realistic treatment goal, reforming the client pathological belief/value system and facilitating the interest of clients in their therapeutic process. Furthermore, I have worked in a multidisciplinary team that involved daily and intermittent communication with doctors, psychologists, speech therapists, physiotherapists, nurses, and other professionals as concerned in addition to the client, their family, and caregivers (both formal and informal caregivers). I have learnt to be skillful in communication while interacting with the multidisciplinary team members, clients and their significant others. I have also taken up leadership roles relating to social and community service volunteerism. I adequately worked as part of a team as well as lead and supervised fellow team members with no record of underperformance. I take pride in successfully conducting a community based rehabilitation (CBR) project aimed to spread Neurodiversity awareness in the society, how to identify their triggers and how they can be addressed at a professional level.
